Touching Base

Hello, my long lost blog! No, I have not forgotten you…you are always in the back of my mind, nudging me to attend to you! ;)

All kidding aside…MAN has it been a LONG winter! I guess I should have just put up a “I’m Hibernating” sign for the winter because that’s pretty much what I do!
But now Spring has sprung and I’m waking up and getting into all of my typical “waking from hibernation” stuff! Which for me are two things, Skin Care and House Cleaning tools.

On the skin side…one day I received some random email, I can’t even remember who from now but it had an ad for Arcona Triad Cleansing Pads. Since I often stay up later than I should and to the point of being too tired to mess with cleaning my face, these snazzy pads caught my eye. And so the relentless researching began.  In late January I purchased Arcona’s Basic Five Aging/Environmentally Damaged skin type package.  You can also find this line at  Skinstore.com and Beauty.com, both of which I’ve ordered from. (watch for great sales at both)

Arcona Basic FiveAnd that’s where it all began. I’m a bit manic when it comes to anything I develop an interest in.  I loved this product and what it was doing for my aging skin but especially the fact that it was made with good ingredients that not only did no harm but was produced in a cold pressed fashion that sounded logically like a great idea.

So now that I was intrigued by the all natural approach,  that’s the direction my research took.  This is when I happened upon a website called  Truth in Aging.

Truthinaging.com is the brain child of a woman named Marta Wohrle.  If you would like to read about Marta and her thoughts behind her website you can do that here on her “about us” page.   Needless to say, I fell in LOVE with this website.  Marta and her team do all the research for me!  They investigate ingredients and they legitimately test and use different products so I don’t have to waste my own money doing  just that!  They also have their own store where they seem to try to carry what they can.  I haven’t purchased anything from there yet, though I’m about to order KaplanMD lip20 treatment in nude!  (because I would like my fuller lips back, thank you very much!)

I’ve been so pleased with the whole Arcona line, that I’m probably not going to stray too far for my basic skin care.  But Truth in Aging showed me how to find the right ingredients in skin care and what I wanted to stay away from and it seems like most anything you would ever want to know about that topic is there somewhere and you’ll more than likely find it by doing a search of the site.

So there it is. That’s what I’ve been doing for the past 3 months or so.

I’ve missed everyone in blog land and hope getting this post going today, I will get back to some resemblance of normalcy on this blog. I know most of my blog followers (if you’re still out there….;)  probably didn’t follow this blog for skin care, or makeup advice, but I think one of the reasons I’ve also not posted much is because my interest have been all over the place. When I started this blog, I actually did want it to be me. Not just cooking me, or decorating me…but “Me”.  Maybe if I start writing about what’s actually going on, in between “What’s for Dinner” I can find a happy medium in my blogging experience.

Next up….My Flylady Adventures!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

  • I wondered where you were! Good to hear from you.

I’ve changed how I blog just a tad. Early Fridays I publish a whatever pops into my head post and disable the comments, then nothing until Sunday…taking the weekend off. I am liking it this way.:-)

    • You’re such a good blogger though Pat!!
Sounds like a good plan though to “have” a plan!
Not sure what happens to me in the winter months, but once Christmas has passed I just seem to lose interest in most everything and only attend to the things I must. I’m guessing a little bit of cabin fever…:)

It’s good to see you too!

Nice to *see* you here. I hope this is the thaw that will get you going again. I do love to read your blog.
I try for the “me” approach too and think my “me” translates as a little too random to really take off. Maybe there is something to this “having a plan” thing. (note to self: sit still long enough to hatch a plan)
    Much love.

  • Welcome back!

I hope you enjoyed your hibernation. Autumn is closing in on us here in Australia. The days are getting cooler and I feel like finding a warm burrow to go snooze in!
